We got up before the alarm clock rang today. After breakfast, we emptied the waste water tank and toilet and filled up the fresh water tank.
The journeys here in Portugal, with the many narrow roads, are really exhausting for us with WENNE. The whole 60 km we drove today took some getting used to.
Our destination today, a parking space right in the city.
You can stay here for a maximum of 48 hours. There are 6 official pitches that you can use for 48 hours for 2 euros including electricity. Advantage: if you drive away with your vehicle. You have a secure pitch. It is reserved for you for this period. The pitches are located in a large public parking lot. There are also some campers outside the designated camper pitches, but this is tolerated, as someone from the local authority drives around the site several times a day to check that everything is in order. He speaks perfect French and is happy to meet anyone who speaks the language and likes to join the campers for a while and sit with them in front of the motorhomes. Very friendly. The supply of fresh water and the disposal of the waste water tank and toilet cassette are free of charge. As we had paid, we used the shore power to save our battery and fully recharge all our devices.
Nearby there are picnic areas, a playground and a fitness area with really nice, modern, well-maintained equipment. There is a bar right next to it.
There is a Vodafone dealer less than 10 minutes‘ walk away. Perfect, because we urgently need a Portuguese SIM card.
Once there, we first have to take a number and then we have to wait.
We decided on a 30-day unlimited data volume (pure Internet flat rate) for €35. Online top-up possible for 25 days for 30€.
When I went looking for a garbage can after breakfast the next day, I saw a market opposite our pitch.
Of course, I had to go there. We didn’t know how long the market would last and it was almost midday. We left everything and set off.
We have often strolled through markets like this on vacation. But never before have we been able to look at the individual stalls as relaxed as we did today. There was absolutely nothing going on.
In addition to the grocer’s market, there was also a market hall with fruit, vegetables, meat and fish products. Live meat products are also sold here.
And we have also been shopping successfully.
As our rucksack was slowly disintegrating, we were on the lookout for a replacement. We didn’t quite understand why a rucksack had to be stuffed into a plastic bag. While Germany is saving the world, Portugal doesn’t seem to care.
We were sitting in front of our camper when we saw an older motorhome with a blue box on the back from afar.
Another nice acquaintance from one of the previous pitches. It’s also somehow interesting that people always choose the same routes and pitches.
