Orgiva, Andalusia/Spain

We are staying for a week on a paid pitch in Orgiva. We arranged to meet Hanne on Wednesday. A lovely Danish lady who speaks good German.

When we arrived at the pitch, there were no other guests. An elderly gentleman was working on his little camper and approached us immediately. He briefly explained to us that he was the owner. Realized that we don’t speak Spanish and he doesn’t speak German. Took his cell phone with the translation app and told us he had problems with his fridge. After we had heard his story, he immediately showed us the best places for the hot season and gave us a free choice. A very nice person. There are facilities here to wash your dishes. We had never experienced that in our entire camping experience. Everything is so clean. The sanitary facilities, the washing facilities, the supply and disposal station. We have never had anything like this on a campsite or paid pitch. Cold showers are free and you have to pay one euro for 7 minutes for a hot shower. There are washing machines and dryers for €4 each and a vending machine with cold drinks and coffee.

The pitch costs 11 per day without electricity and 15 with electricity.

On the same day, we went on a very nice motorcycle tour into the Sierra Nevada mountains. The view was unbelievable.

We rode through a few very pretty, narrow and adventurous mountain villages before returning to the camper in the evening.

Unfortunately, we received some very sad news.
Our friend Mr. A. from the Figueira pitch died a few days ago. We were only able to accompany him for a short time in his life.
He did not win his battle against cancer.

In April 2023, when we were traveling with the motorcycles, we had spent some time here in Orgiva in the mountains with Hanne for board and lodging.
We had an appointment with her this morning.
Unfortunately, she is now in bed and can only get up for the essentials. For this reason, a lot has changed here on her large property.
Hanne is a very positive person and is almost always in a good mood. She likes to talk non-stop and told us her story from last year in the 4 hours we were with her. She is also very interested in us. Although Hanne is in a really bad way, she hasn’t lost her sense of humor and if you come to her she still likes to hand out work. So Alex took care of the mosquito net in her room and I was allowed to make up her bed.
We were also allowed to look around the grounds and see the changes.

We are so incredibly happy to have been able to visit her again. And thank her for taking the time for us.
We thank her for the great time we had last year. We learned a lot from her.
We wish her lots of strength for the time ahead and that she can still experience her last wish before she loses her battle against cancer.
Thank you Hanne for everything, you are a great woman and we will never forget you.

Unfortunately, Hanne passed away 3 weeks after our visit.
