October 19–25, 2025 Figueira/Budens, Portugal

On Sunday, our Swabian fellow camper invited us for doughnuts and cappuccino. This has always been the case in recent years. He likes to bake them, but he can’t eat them all on his own. So he invites a few people over. Delicious!

It was very cloudy at the beginning of the week and it drizzled lightly from time to time. So we weren’t really out and about and used the time to listen to the SWR1 Hitparade Baden-Württemberg. The hit parade runs from Monday to Friday and we listen to it whenever we can. It even runs through the night 😂

On Tuesday evening, we were sitting comfortably in the camper van listening to music when the groundsman outside our door shouted “my frind, my frind” and something incomprehensible and very excited. Alex quickly put on his shoes and the two of them were gone. I heard Antonio shouting “my frind” again further ahead towards the entrance area, after which all I could do was wait until Alex came back about 20 minutes later. Halfway down the entrance to the campsite, a large motorhome and trailer with a car on top had come to a halt. You have to take a tight bend to drive onto the site, so it had simply become too tight for this vehicle and trailer. Without further ado, the groundsman drummed up a few men to push the trailer into the park separately.

It really never gets boring here!

There is still some time to go, but I need a square doily for my Advent arrangement. So I set to work 🙂

But there has to be at least a short walk in between:
Lots of snails, bright flowers, shadows and the fruit of the medronho tree (strawberry tree) will soon be ripe.

At the end of the week, the sun came out more and more often. Only in the morning was it still a bit foggy in places.

Visit to Lagos. Shopping in the market hall. The harbor sometimes from above, sometimes from below. Browse through the market and simply enjoy.

End the evening on the beach.

We then used the sun on Saturday for some sunbathing.

In the picture above right you can see how great the sky can look with clouds.
And on the bottom left, the result when you ask your husband to take a photo of you in the sea.

We now have a favorite stretch of beach. At low tide, you can walk along the beach from Figueira beach until you reach our favorite section. At high tide, you can only get there over the hill. You have to know the way, you have to climb a bit and it’s not quite around the corner. It always takes us about 20-30 minutes. Maybe that’s because we often stop to enjoy the beautiful view 😉

In any case, there are few to no people there at high tide, which is why we like to be there.

And the view is always fantastic.

On Saturday evening, the groundsman came to us for the second time this week and called out again, my frind, my frind. He just wanted to point out to us that the clock is changed at night 🙂 kind of sweet, but not everything on the pitch is so great. At 7pm the curbs are raised here. The main gate is then closed until 9am. You can then only go in and out by bike or on foot. It’s a shame for anyone who wants to go out for a meal in the evening or to a Christmas market or whatever during the Christmas period and doesn’t have any other vehicle with them apart from their camper van. It doesn’t bother us. The only thing we personally find a bit of a shame is that you’re not allowed to be boisterous and cheerful in the evening. If you are a bit louder, you will be reprimanded immediately by the groundsman. But well, there’s probably no such thing as the perfect place anyway. We definitely feel at home here and will enjoy the winter here in Portugal before embarking on a short, new and slightly different adventure next May. But we’ll tell you all about it when the time comes 😉
