On Sunday morning, we heard our groundskeeper talking loudly and agitatedly very early in the morning. Later, we found out why. The whole of Figueira had no fresh water. By midday, the problem had been fixed and the sun was shining more and more often. So we decided to hop on our motorbike and treat ourselves to a pizza.
The evening ended with a beautiful rainbow.
During the night on Monday, we were repeatedly woken up by torrential rain. But during the day, the weather became increasingly pleasant. It mostly remained dry.
At lunchtime, our Belgian friend arrived with his girlfriend. What a surprise.
After all the rain, we were back on the road with our KTM. Somewhere between Sagres and Vila do Bispo in the Algarve, Portugal.
We definitely had a lot of fun on this tour.
The next day was beach time.
With an outside temperature of 20°C, the water was surprisingly pleasant. It’s wonderful to just bask in the Atlantic Ocean for a while.
We were last there nine days ago. This beautiful, sheltered spot under the Sandwich Rocks, which you can see in the first picture, was filled with water today. There was also little space to lie down due to the large breakwater that the sea had washed into the sand. But as so often before, we had the beach almost to ourselves.
In the other two pictures, you can see where the arrows point how everything at the Sandwich Rocks is filled with water. And also this large breakwater.
It’s always fascinating how the beach changes constantly due to the movements of the sea. Very exciting!
The water was wonderful, a little chilly, but it was really fun to swim in the sea. By the way, Alex always goes in the water too, but there are no photos to prove it 😉
There is always something to do. People are always happy to help their loved ones.
On Saturday, we actually just wanted to go for a walk and look at the Atlantic Ocean from above. As always, we can’t get enough of the view.
But once we had made it back down, we couldn’t help but lie down in the sand and enjoy the sun.
It’s a good thing I always bring my swimsuit with me when we walk to the sea—you never know 😉
Just in time for coffee, we were treated to refreshments by the groundskeeper’s wife.
Our friend from Trier arrived in the late afternoon. On the way, he had met a couple who had also been here last winter and wanted to spend this winter here as well. So all three of them arrived together.
After a warm welcome, we and the rest of the reception committee let the new arrivals “settle in” for a while. But it wasn’t long before Pit, our friend, knocked on our door. We had a few nice hours together and are now looking forward to spending the next few months together.
