With just under 8 weeks to go before the start of our “new life”, our big adventure, we are really looking forward to it and can hardly wait to set off.
The final preparations are underway. Only small things are still missing so that our equipment is complete. We may find that we have far too much when we start packing ๐ This will certainly be one small challenge of many big ones to come ๐
The passports have been applied for, vaccination appointments have been made, long-term health insurance has been taken out, notices of termination have been issued.
My motorcycle is also ready. After we picked it up from the workshop after the big check, Alex was able to fit me with a new Touratech suspension and Coolride grip heating. (Posts on this will follow…)
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to pick up Alex’s AT the week before Christmas, as originally agreed. It’s now the second week of January and after consulting the workshop we’re afraid that we won’t be able to pick up the bike until the end of January or beginning of February.
That really wouldn’t be very advantageous, as Alex also has to install a new suspension from Touratech and the grip heating from Coolride on his AT. He has also opted for a larger tank from Touratech, which is why he got different crash bars from Heavy Duties. Minor adjustments still need to be made to attach the crash bars. (Posts on the tank, crash bars and grip heating will follow…)
Finally, he would like to ride the first 1000 km in a relaxed manner before the start of the trip in order to change the oil here at home. This could possibly delay our start a little. It’s already off to a good start ๐ ๐
