Work on the WENNE October-November 2024

When we arrived at Figueira Camperpark, we immediately started ordering the materials for the diesel parking heater and the new water boiler. Unfortunately, we had to wait almost 4 weeks until we had everything together to start the conversion. However, we didn’t get bored, we simply prioritised the things that were further down on the to-do list. We also spent a lot of time with friends and went on a few short moped tours and walks. So we started with additional lighting for WENNE. We realised that the over 30-year-old lights didn’t shine very brightly and simply wanted to provide a better overview when riding at night.

As so often before, we had problems with the electrics on the vehicle. Naturally, this had to be rectified.

As we need new sockets and light switches for our new wall, which we will need when we install the diesel parking heater, we replaced a few others at the same time. We think it’s much nicer than before.

Sometimes things have to make sense. But we’ve always wanted a lorry horn with a cable pull.

Alex has sealed our roof hatch in the bathroom from the outside several times now, as water was constantly leaking in. We have now decided to install a new roof hatch. The plastic parts of the old one were already very porous, so it really was time for a new one.

The new roof hatch also has a great insect screen. Very advantageous.

We were finally able to start installing the new hot water boiler.

The hot air hoses were then laid. First to the bathroom so that we could keep it nice and warm there.

Then it was time to install the diesel parking heater. To do this, we had to remove our cupboard and raise it slightly, as the heater was to be installed underneath.

Slowly, the cool boxes were allowed back in their places.

The result is impressive. Now the new cupboard on the shelf just needs a new wrap.

Once the heating system had been installed, the pipes had to be fitted and laid so that it could be supplied with diesel.

As the gas heating has been removed and we no longer need its chimney, we decided to keep the ventilation anyway and install a ventilation grille.

We’ve had the idea of switching to a dry separation toilet for some time. Now the time has come. We bought a kit from Trobolo. At the same time, we also got a new floor covering. When Alex removed the old toilet and uncovered the gas and water pipes, we first had to replace the totally rusted gas pipes. We were able to do it in such a way that we can sleep peacefully, but unfortunately we will have to tackle the issue of the gas pipes again in the foreseeable future.

Drilling, sawing, filing, screwing and painting had to be done for the do it your self toilet. We are very happy with the result of the floor and the toilet. We will be installing a smaller, non-folding washbasin in the near future.

In the meantime, we have also finished the rear area on the side of the bunk beds. We think it looks much friendlier.

We’ve really been able to change a lot in the last 8 weeks. We’re very happy with the new heating. But here in this place we don’t need it very often, which is also nice. And the urine-diverting toilet is also great, as it’s much easier to dispose of than the cassette toilet.
