The journey continued for us today. Through really narrow roads, then wider ones again. Through towns and villages and… another route through roads closed to trucks. Alex is totally relaxed on narrow roads where my hands get sweaty as a passenger. But when there are signs indicating that we are not allowed to drive through, he is totally annoyed and no longer relaxed. Which I don’t understand, because then we just take a different road. We’ve always chosen a parking lot as our destination for the day in advance, but nobody says we have to get there and, above all, there’s no time pressure.
So each of us has our strengths and weaknesses and we balance each other out well. We’ve often thought about downloading a navigation app for motorhomes and trucks onto our cell phones. To relax Alex a little, we downloaded the Sygic Truck app today and can test it for 7 days before we have to pay for it. Let’s see if it really makes our driving more relaxed.
After a few detours, we finally reached our destination for the day. Just before Bilbao. We will probably stay here for two nights. But we’re not quite sure yet.
Shortly after our arrival, it started to rain and thunder lightly.
We had bought our motorhome as “completely dry and watertight”. When we asked, the previous owner confirmed this.
On the way home, we received a WhatsApp message saying that water was leaking in through the kitchen window when it rained and that the camper wasn’t completely level. In the meantime, we have discovered a few leaks.
It has rained repeatedly over the last few days and the kitchen window is indeed leaking. This is also the case today. Unfortunately, it’s also dripping onto the worktop, where some of the electrics are located. Okay, it’s only a cable, but it’s still not so funny. We haven’t actually found the leak yet. But we have a suspicion. We’ll definitely have to have a look at it.
The birds of the air fly over our heads until around 11 pm.
We are woken up by them in the morning from around 7 am.
For €1.50 per person each way, we took the bus the 11 km to Bilbao today and had a look around the city.
Bilbao is the capital of the Basque country, so to speak. As a university city, Bilbao is now very well known for the Guggenheim Museum, which opened in 1997. Since then, it has breathed new life into the city. The museum houses famous modern and contemporary works of art.
