After we had finished packing everything today, we went to say goodbye to Alex’s mom.
Saying goodbye to our children and Iris’ parents was once again very emotional. We will probably never get used to that.
But first we went to the scales at the recycling center. Just under 6500kg. So still plenty of room for improvement.
When we arrived at Alex’s mom’s house, Alex’s brother and his junior happened to be there too, much to our delight. It wasn’t until the evening, after a snack, that we drove on.
Just 1 1/2 hours from home, we spent the night in Ehingen, legally on a free parking space for campers and motorhomes.
We were quite satisfied with our first night. The bed is totally cozy and the space is completely sufficient. It was cozy and warm under the comforter, but otherwise it felt more like autumn than the end of August.
The day before yesterday, a former colleague of Alex’s wrote to us and asked if we would like to come by for a coffee on Wednesday, as he would be on vacation from then on. Of course we agreed and made an appointment for the morning. A very nice person, he even composed his own piece of music “Adventure Jorney” for us to use in our posts or stories. Thank you Role again for that, it really made us very happy and we are very proud of it.
We had just finished our mini breakfast in the camper when we got the message that the coffee was ready and pretzels were being delivered. We hadn’t expected a proper breakfast.
So we got ready and set off for Herbertingen. It was still a good hour’s drive there with our “WENNE”.
After this lovely morning with our friend, we finally set off into the world.
Today’s destination was the Black Forest.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t just the forests that were black today.
Break!
We downloaded an app on our cell phone that allows you to find camper and motorhome pitches. It provides information about prices, what is on offer, e.g. electricity, water, toilet disposal, how big the vehicles can be, whether there is a toilet and much more.
Our first port of call for the day was no longer there. We found this parking space at the cemetery by chance. And one of the two pitches was actually still free for us.
Let’s see if we can sleep well at the cemetery 😉
Alex had taken over today’s ride. We took our snack break after approx.
3 1/2 hours. After a total of 7 hours’ driving, we arrived at our parking space for the day. Alex said he was so exhausted from driving. He didn’t mind so much on the bike. Today we went forward on wide roads, on narrow ones, uphill and downhill. With rain, without rain. At the end there was a traffic jam due to an accident and rush hour traffic. After such a ride with such an unfamiliar vehicle, you can be a bit exhausted in the evening.
We think that tomorrow we will drive a long way into France and after 2-3 nights there, we will probably arrive in Spain and this time, in all probability, drive towards Portugal.
