23.11.-29.11.2025 Figueira/Budens, Portugal-Algarve

We spent Sunday with our friend Pit. Another friend arrived in the late afternoon. We only had time for a quick hello, as we were already on our motorbike and on our way to do some shopping.

When we returned from shopping on Tuesday, a crowd of people was standing around Mrs. A.’s car with the hood open. The poor woman always has bad luck with her car. When Alex saw that Pit was working on it, he immediately went over to help him. In the end, it took a few men to push the car to the right spot.

Let’s go have lunch with Pit.

There is a typical Portuguese restaurant nearby that is only open between 12 noon and 2 p.m. This restaurant is mainly frequented by locals who spend their lunch break there. Tourists rarely stray there. For $13 per person, you get soup and salad, which are self-service. You can choose from four main courses and desserts. You can have as many drinks as you like, whether non-alcoholic, wine, or beer. To finish, you get a coffee.
We love being there among the Portuguese, and the value for money is really great.

Not quite perfect, but damn tasty.
Homemade Maultaschen. I was really surprised at myself, they tasted so good. I thought rolling out the dough would be a good idea, but it wasn’t. Next time I’ll try a different technique.

At the end of the week, we took a short trip to Albufaira on our motorbike.

In the evening, it was time for mulled wine. Even with the temperatures we have here, it tastes delicious 😋
