23.04.2023 from Orgiva, Sierra Nevada direction Malaga, Andalusia/Spain

The motorcycles are packed right after breakfast and then we head south.

Hanne made an appointment with us yesterday evening. Before she proudly showed us the apartment or half of the house she will soon be moving into, she talked to us for a long time. She praised us for the work we had done. At the same time, however, she felt guilty because we had so little time to look at the area. Personally, we thought everything was fine. Both the work and the free time.
Hanne was also quite happy that she finally had older volunteers with her. She really likes having young people around her and yet it was a nice change for her that we were there.

In any case, we are very pleased that she was happy with us.

From Hannes Finca to the main road, the road climbs quite steeply in places on gravel and sand. With the confusing bends and all the luggage, I was quite overwhelmed by this stretch. I couldn’t sleep all night because I didn’t know how I was going to get up there. The little accident on the way up probably also played a role in my head. What’s more, my elbow and shoulder are still very sore from the fall.
In any case, I’m very grateful that Alex drove my bike quite a long way up the strenuous paths.
After we had finally made it to the top, we first needed a drink break. Alex took it with a sense of humor and said that now he had also done some motorcycle hiking.

About halfway between Orgiva and Malaga, we found this great bar with lots of nice bikers.
Many of them looked at our fully packed motorcycles and were surprised that we had ridden all the way here to Spain from Germany.

Alex wasn’t the only one who liked this Mash sidecar. It turned out that it belonged to a German. He was traveling with his colleague. They work for a company that organizes guided motorcycle tours and the two of them are responsible for transporting the motorcycles. If there is still room on the truck, they can take their own bikes with them and ride their own tour. It was an interesting meeting.

We’ll let you ride along for a while 😉

We arrived at our host around 3 pm. After arriving on the main road at Orgiva, the journey continued in a relaxed manner. Apart from the pain in my shoulder area.

The motorcycles are allowed to park in the enclosed courtyard. Normally, the volunteers’ vehicles here at Villa Karen have to park outside. But once again we were lucky.

We were warmly welcomed by an Austrian volunteer. He had the task of giving us a short briefing so that we at least knew something.
He himself leaves this host the next morning and we are responsible for the work here alone for the first time.
We are only in contact with our host via WhatsApp. He is currently away for a long time. But we don’t know any more details.

Short breather after arrival. A quick trip straight to Malaga to get the essentials for dinner and breakfast. It’s a good thing that bakeries and some supermarkets are also open on Sundays here in Spain.
Back to the host and we got our briefing. We finished around 8 p.m. and chatted with Manuel for almost two hours over a beer. It was a really interesting conversation and he is really very nice. It’s a shame that he’s already leaving the next morning.
Although we had only had breakfast and had eaten a sweet while shopping in Malaga, we no longer felt like cooking.

So we just fell into bed exhausted.
