This week we completed our platform. Holes were drilled, protective tape attached and the “cover” glued back on, riveted and screwed in place and the airline rails for attaching the motorcycle attached.
New rear lights were fitted and rewired.
The work on the platform has been completed. The only thing missing now is the motorcycle rocker, but this will come later. Because we want to start trying to pull the living area backwards to tilt the cab. The rocker would be in the way.
Milka from OG Kustom made us two matching metal plates to replace the ones at the entrance to the cab, as they were too rusty. After removing the mudguards, even more rust holes unfortunately appeared.
On Friday, Alex was only able to access the welding machine towards the evening, but because he wanted to finish the welding work, it was already dark, cold and late by our standards.
One of the guys who often stays here at OG Kustom had a birthday and bought us beer and cake. The good soul of the house once again spoiled us with a meal. So we had a cozy end to the evening.
In the time until we could use the welding machine,
there were still a few little things to do. For example, a sheet of metal was riveted to the rear.
The tail light cables still had to be insulated. The reversing camera, which was still from the previous owner, didn’t always work as it should. It was one with wiring. We opted for wireless ones and fitted two of the 4 cameras. Maybe it’s unnecessary, but there have been nights when I’ve spent more time at the window than in bed. Strange noises kept me awake. Alex said we could see almost all around the motorhome with 4 cameras. We can then take the screen into the cabin at night and get an overview from the bed. It doesn’t have to be wrong.
We are on a private site at OG Kustom, outside, without a roof. Due to the cold weather and the rain, it takes us longer than expected to do the work. It’s a good thing we’re not in a hurry and have enough time.
We used some of the rainy days to catch up on the visits we didn’t manage to make during our Christmas vacation here in Germany. The weather should be really nice next week, so we’ll be able to get on with the work that still needs to be done. In the next post, you’ll find out how much and which jobs were on the agenda.
