21.-23.09.2023 from Navia Asturias to Viveiro Galicia/Spain

As nice as the day was yesterday, the night wasn’t quite so relaxed.
The gusts of wind really shook our WENNE :-0 After it started to rain, there was no real chance of sleeping. Good thing that at least the rain didn’t last that long.

In the morning, while getting fresh water and emptying the waste water tank, we came into contact with a lamppost (wherever it suddenly came from 😉 If you don’t have any work, you can make some for yourself. So far, everything is ok for now. We’ll take a closer look at this problem another time.

Today we arrived in the Galicia region. No different picture to the other places. Simply beautiful here.

Our pitch today is provided free of charge by the restaurant owners here. Including fresh water and waste disposal stations. Of course, they are happy if you pay them a visit.

We are happy to provide support at such a wonderful pitch.

Now we hope the next few days and nights won’t be as stormy and rainy as it was tonight. With gusts of up to 60 km/h, it’s not exactly pleasant on the roads with WENNE, nor outside.

Motorhomes keep getting stuck in the mud. Let’s hope that we can get away without any problems when we drive on.

I am as happy as a little child every time I see a rainbow.

-We wish you a life as colorful as a rainbow-

Anyone who travels with us regularly may have noticed that we make slow progress and only travel a few kilometers a day.
In fact, that was our plan from the very beginning.
From France onwards, we started driving short distances and staying in one place for 2-3 days if possible. This gives us the opportunity to get to know and see a lot of the individual regions. Sometimes the scenery is so beautiful that you don’t want to drive much further. We also save on fuel, calculated over the month.
In between, we also like to stop at a nice place for a week. We also find these breaks very important to let all the beautiful (and less beautiful) impressions sink in. If we were to travel quickly, it would just be rushing from place to place and seeing as much as possible in between. We think that would be pure stress and if there’s one thing we currently have, it’s time, a lot of time.
Unfortunately, we have realized that my wish to visit my uncle on Tenerife will probably not come true. The cost of the ferry with WENNE there and back to the mainland is beyond our budget. It’s a shame, but it’s not too bad. So now we are heading for Portugal without any stress or time pressure. We have absolutely no idea how long it will take us to drive through Portugal. Depending on what the weather will be like there in October, we will drive faster or slower to the Algave.
There, or in the south of Spain, we would then like to stay at a campsite for 4-6 weeks so that we can take our time “sprucing up” the inside of WENNE. But there are still many weeks to go before then. We have planned to have a rough direction, but we have been living from day to day for just under a week and it is really relaxing and uncomplicated. It comes as it comes. And it is what it is. It only took us a short time to get used to camper life. To learn not to stress about the pitches. To only go shopping once or maybe twice a week. To dose the water in the camper so that you don’t have to refill it every day. In the meantime, everyone has their own little daily tasks. It has become well established. But the top priority is always: HAVING FUN!!!

We simply enjoyed the days.
Having the beach all to ourselves is just really nice.

A good friend came up with the idea that we needed a dog for our adventure. He could look after us and WENNE, he said.
We just said that we couldn’t imagine that at the moment.
We promptly received these two photoshopped pictures. With the words “this is what it would look like with a dog”

When we were sitting on the beach that afternoon, Alex was out for a little walk when this cute dog came running towards me. He immediately jumped up on me. He wanted to play, lay down in the sand and wanted to be stroked. All the calling and whistling from his master and mistress was ignored. His owner had to put him on a lead first, otherwise he would always come back to me.
What are we to make of this? Can there be such a strange coincidence??? Is this a sign???
In any case, it was a very strange encounter in connection with our friend’s greeting.

The next morning, we walked to this cross and wanted to take in the view from up here.
Where huge Atlantic waves lash against the rocks on Galicia’s Costa da Morte, fishermen risk their lives to harvest the coveted barnacles.
This is why there are many crosses on the cliffs of the Galician Coast of Death, warning of the violence of the sea.

While there were really nice waves the days we were here, today 18 surfers were already looking in vain for a great wave in the morning.

From up here we had a beautiful view of the pitch.

We decided to walk a little further and after a short walk through the forest we were rewarded with such a beautiful spot.

After only 2.5 hours, we made our way back.
Apart from the sea, we were able to see a wedding couple having their photo shoot on the beach and a falcon that must have its nest in the middle of the rocks.

This place is really beautiful here in Galicia.
