With the beautiful weather, we just had to grab our KTM and go on a little tour.
It was beautiful!
When we had all the spare parts for “WENNE” together at the beginning of the week, we immediately took it to the workshop.
However, they were a little surprised that we brought our camper back to them so quickly.
With luck, we’ll be able to pick up “WENNE” this week.
Back at home, we sat down together and made a list of things we would like to buy in Germany. We also talked about what exactly needs to be done to the camper itself before we can move on.
Since our start in March, nothing has gone as we had “planned”. That’s why we are very cautious in suggesting that we might be able to head south at the beginning of next week.
Alex has adapted the look a little with a Storm exhaust. I have no idea what KTM was thinking with this angular, unattractive exhaust.
Our eldest daughter and her boyfriend wanted to go shopping with us and “WENNE” for a somewhat larger purchase. For this reason, we wanted to set off on Saturday morning. But “WENNE” probably had other plans. It just wouldn’t start.
It was a good thing that we were able to borrow the car and trailer from Iris’ parents.
Alex suspected problems with the batteries. Nevertheless, when we got back home, we called the ADAC.
He also said that the batteries were to blame for the starting problem.
Before we got new batteries, we tried charging them first.
We’ll see in a few days whether that really was the problem.
As if that wasn’t enough, we discovered that there was a leak behind the cool boxes. All the rain had left its mark.
The weak point was quickly found. The poor sealing of the ventilation grilles.
We’re beginning to wonder whether we’re just unlucky with the camper or whether there’s something to the saying “good things take time” and it will be all the better when we get going?
In the evening, during a rain-free phase, we got to work and sealed the ventilation grille properly.
Unfortunately, there was more bad news today. Basements of friends and acquaintances are under water, car windows and skylights were destroyed by the heavy hail.
Our problems with our “problem child” are really only an insignificant side issue.
We very much hope that the weather will calm down in their region and not cause any more disasters.
While the batteries were still on the charger, Alex got to work stowing all the cables in cable ducts. In the meantime, I started to put some things away in the cupboards.
Around midday, Alex reinstalled the batteries. The camper started on the first attempt. Is there nothing standing in the way of a start in a few days?
In the afternoon, we had an appointment with our eldest daughter and her boyfriend. I took my first ride. It was a bit unusual, but it was fun. And I think Alex is quite relaxed sitting next to me. A good sign 🙂
Our son and youngest daughter were also there and we had a lovely Sunday together. In the evening, our Christin spoiled us with Leberkäs and potato salad. We always really enjoy spending time with our children.
We had to say goodbye to her and her boyfriend today. Once again it was very emotional. We’ll probably never get used to it.
