20.04.-21.04.2023 Orgiva, Sierra Nevada/Spain

The wall was actually finished today. Alex helped Hanne and me with it until Asgar arrived and the two of them took care of the tent. It had to be adjusted to a lower height. The whole thing took hours until it was finally finished.

We slept in on our day off today. This meant we were able to have a hearty breakfast again.

Afterwards, we set off on a motorcycle and took a look at this other route from Hannes Finca to Orgiva. It is actually much easier to ride than the one we took up here on the first day.

In Orgiva, we first stopped to refuel.

We were finally able to pick up the set of seals we ordered in Salobrena.

When we are out of these Cerro Negros mountains, probably during our next longer stay on the coast, Alex will replace these seals at his place. It’s too dusty here due to the constant wind and the dry conditions. No dust or dirt should get into the oil tank. Replacing it here would not be an advantage.

We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing on the beach, Playa Salobrena.

Behind me you can see the Castello de Salobrena. When we drove up there to enjoy this probably breathtaking view, we realized that there are no parking facilities up there. Not even for the motorcycle.
You would have to park down in the town and walk up the mountain. But that was too strenuous for us to walk up there in the heat with our motorcycle gear and helmets.
But riding through this old town with its white houses and narrow streets was also very nice.

A quick farewell to the sea and off we go. Because we’re a bit hungry.

In some Mercadona supermarkets, you can buy ready-cooked food at a counter and then pay at the till as normal. There are small eating areas in the entrance area, equipped with microwaves, cutlery and cups. So you can heat up the food and eat it on the spot. Alex treated himself to a paella and I had a stuffed eggplant.
It’s very practical and inexpensive. Ideal if you don’t feel like cooking and don’t want to go to a restaurant.

One positive thing we noticed was that the dining area, including the microwaves, was very clean.

On the way home we saw this abandoned place and had to take a few photos.

We’ll let you come along for the ride on today’s trip.
