15.12.-20.12.2025 Figueira/Budens Portugal, Algarve

On our first day back in Figueira, we had plenty of time to unpack our suitcases at our leisure, as the weather wasn’t particularly nice. It had been raining lightly on and off.
On Monday night, we had a stormy night with repeated short but heavy rain showers.
The rain had eased off during the day, but the gusts of wind of around 60-65 km/h remained throughout the day. At 15°C, however, it wasn’t too bad, and when the sun did peek out for longer periods, it still gave off plenty of warmth.

After pure sunshine returned in the middle of the week, most people were back out on the grounds. Many took advantage of the weather to do laundry, some had leaky roofs, water had collected on some roofs, and leaves and other debris had to be removed. Alex also cleaned our roof and checked that everything was in order. Then we went shopping.
In the afternoon, the groundskeeper once again rounded up a few men to move an old caravan to another location.

This week, we also received calls for help from fellow campers who had minor problems. Alex is always happy to help. However, you really have to be careful, because it often happens that people take advantage of you, and we don’t want that.
I, on the other hand, had concentrated only on normal housework due to a back and neck problem, had some lovely visitors, and did a little reading.

The highlight of this week was the annual wild boar dinner, which is organized every year by the winter visitors and a few people who have since settled nearby. Only certain people are invited, and we are among them.
It’s nice to sit together with people, talk, and get to know each other better, but for us it was probably the last time, because unfortunately the price-performance ratio is no longer right for us personally.

Tomorrow, Alex’s brother and our nephew are coming to visit us for a few days. They will be sleeping in a tent on our plot. Unfortunately, it’s getting a bit chilly at night at the moment. We just hope that the weather will be good during the day and that it won’t rain next week so that they can enjoy their time here.

Now all that remains is for us to wish you a wonderful 4th Advent tomorrow and a Merry Christmas.
