13.08.-20.08.2023 “At home” Germany

We actually had an appointment with “WENNE” at the TÜV on August 14. Unfortunately, this could not take place for the time being, as it turned out that some TÜV-relevant repairs still had to be carried out. The air tank, tie rod and push rod had to be replaced.
So unfortunately we had to take a forced break from working on the camper because it had to stay in the workshop for a few days.

On the third workshop day, however, we received a phone call with the information that the spare parts we needed were no longer available as originals. They had supposedly tried everything possible to get hold of the right parts. As a specialist workshop, they are of course only allowed to procure original parts and no others themselves because of the warranty.

So we decided to bring the camper back to us and look for suitable parts ourselves. There wasn’t much we could do with the OEM numbers we had been given. We measured the individual parts as best we could and looked for the parts based on these measurements. The air reservoir was no problem, and we also found a track rod quite quickly. It took a few phone calls to find the push rod. If we could actually get the right parts and they could be fitted, then it wasn’t as difficult and complicated as the workshop thought. We’ll find out soon enough.
We actually wanted to move on again this week. But our start 2.0 has been postponed again.

While we are waiting for our spare parts, we have of course not been idle.

Sometimes, however, we can only shake our heads when we see how professionally the work was often done here.

We were finally able to install the felt in our sleeping area. We’re really pleased with the result for the first time. All that’s missing now is the insect screen, the blackout blinds, the slatted frame and the mattress.

Time and again, we come across non-functioning or broken items that the seller has unfortunately not told us about, as we assume that the owner must have been aware of these new problems for us. So far there have been a few little things that were mentioned afterwards via WhatsApp. Or we found them ourselves. For example, a leaky kitchen window, although it was emphasized all the time that the motorhome is completely watertight. We probably should have noticed that the safety handles on the windows were broken off ourselves during the inspection. That’s just the way it is, as long as the costs are kept within reasonable limits, it’s bearable and at least we never get bored. But time and again we are disappointed by individual people, it is increasingly difficult for us to trust others and see the good in them. That’s a real shame 🙁
So today it was the toilet’s turn. The flush didn’t work. Fortunately, after Alex had almost completely dismantled it and thoroughly cleaned all the hoses, it was only a minor problem that was quickly fixed.

We weren’t idle today on Sunday either.
A light switch was fitted in the alcove. It wasn’t quite as easy as it should have been. The entire electrical system is very adventurously installed and connected. It took Alex a while to figure out that the positive and negative poles were reversed in this case.

In the meantime, I have put the freshly washed and ironed curtains back in place.

Beim Einbau vom Lattenrost hatte Alex Hilfe von unserem Junior.
Auch die Verdunklungs- und Insektenrollos wurden wieder angebracht.

After we were done for the day, we had a cozy barbecue evening with our loved ones.
