13.05.-19.05.2024 Figueira-Budens, Algarve/Portugal

At the beginning of the week, we helped our friends dismantle, move and reassemble their pavilion, including the wooden floor and kitchenette lovingly built by Mr. W..
Surprisingly, they invited us to dinner in the restaurant around the corner in the evening as a thank you.
Thank you very much for that, but it was absolutely unnecessary. We really enjoy helping the two of them.
The next day, Mrs. B. and Mr. F. invited us and our friends to a vegetarian dinner. We gladly accepted the invitation. It was a lovely evening.
The owner of the caravan park has a small garden nearby where he grows vegetables, among other things. Some of these are then sold here. Probably thanks to the length of time we have been here and our good relationship with the staff, we were given a few large beans as a gift. They were still good, of course, but we suspect not good enough to sell. We didn’t care, they tasted delicious.
The groundskeeper’s lovely wife also gave us some homemade pumpkin jam with coconut flakes.
A big thank you for that too! It tastes really delicious.

The next day, we actually wanted to go on a short hike with our two friends. Unfortunately, it had already rained a little in the morning. We decided to postpone the hike, as some of the paths here are steep uphill and downhill and are a challenge even in good weather. This was just as well, as it had been raining lightly on and off all day. Nevertheless, we didn’t get bored. We had dealt with the electrics on the vehicle, which was necessary. Some of the cables in the front of the console in the cab were chafed and not properly insulated. We were also able to dispose of meters of cables that had no function. Now everything is a bit more orderly and safe again.

We also moved again this week 😉 There is a pitch that we would probably like better for our next stay here. However, this pitch is very popular. It is possible to make a reservation but then only one pitch is guaranteed. It is not possible to make a reservation for a specific pitch. That’s why it’s first come, first served. As we know that some long-timers will be arriving later than us, we thought we’d try out this one pitch for the next two weeks and see if we feel comfortable there and maybe we’ll be lucky enough to get it. After the few days we’ve been on this other pitch, we can say that we like the privacy and the amount of space. But somehow it’s very restless and noisy here. It will be interesting to see what we decide on our next stay.

We now always have company from Ben here too.

We made a brief but nice acquaintance with a lovely couple from Bochum. On the evening of our move, we had a cozy get-together with a glass of wine and beer to say goodbye, as they had moved on the next morning.
Mrs. M., whose motorhome Alex had prepared for the workshop last week and who was supposed to be on her way to Spain a long time ago, has been camping in her motorhome right outside the workshop for over a week, as her appointment at the workshop has been postponed. However, Mrs. K. was still nearby and when the two of them met by chance, Mrs. K. decided to stand by her new friend and wait with her until everything was done. When we found out about this by chance, we decided to take the opportunity to pay them a quick visit, as the workshop is close to the stores where we do our weekly shopping.
They were very happy about it.

Unfortunately, we have once again received bad news from Germany. Mr. W., also one of the long-distance gymnasts here at the Caravan Park, has recently returned to Germany and is currently in hospital with a pulmonary embolism and a heart attack and, according to the doctors, will not be leaving. This is very sad for us, because although he is a completely different person to us and displays a lot of chaotic behaviour, we have grown very fond of him in the long time we have been able to get to know each other and the many evenings we have spent together. It was nice that we were able to get to know you, Wolfgang :’-( Once again we realized that we were going the right way, because:

You have to finally start living.

Stop waiting. Take risks. Go out, do your thing.

Live your dreams

Don’t let yourself be talked down to.

Stop constantly justifying yourself. It’s our life. We do what feels good in our hearts.

What makes us feel good, no matter what others say.

Who knows how much longer we’ll be able to enjoy it.

You should start living your dreams too

Do what makes you feel good.

Life is simply too short for any one day.
