We quickly settled in here and feel very much at home. Now it’s time to enjoy every day! Getting up whenever you feel like it, experiencing new adventures in the area, going for walks and swimming in the sea, spending time with friends, enjoying good food and drink.
But there are also all kinds of tasks that need to be done. Washing up, tidying, cleaning, emptying the toilet, disposing of gray water, filling up with fresh water, doing laundry, cooking, shopping, etc….
However, all this is much more fun in such great weather.
However, the weather chaos in Spain and Italy makes us sad. We keep an eye on it, you never know if there will be weather chaos in Portugal too. Last spring, a lot of water came down on the site in Figueira and storms knocked down a few trees. We ourselves were already on our way to Germany at the time, but pictures and videos of people on site kept coming in. It’s unbelievable what chaos the weather has caused in recent years. We will probably have to learn to cope with it in the future.
My homemade bread is getting better and better. Toasted and together with my mother’s homemade mirabelle plum jelly, it tastes twice as good 😉
I also make time for my two hobbies, macramé work and reading books.
As my great hat is always lying around somewhere in the way, I’ve come up with something. Now it’s tidied up and I think it looks pretty.
I also needed a new basket to store small items.
If our friends have a tight schedule, we love to go for a walk with Buka 😄
Our move to pitch no. 2 has been postponed again by almost 2 weeks. Place no.2 is really a great place and has, as we think, a lot of privacy. We love having people around us and anyone can come and visit us. Just as and when they feel like it, if they have something on their mind or need help. There is no through traffic at this site and our entrance is not so easily accessible. This eliminates the usually boring small talk from people walking past. Those who are really interested in talking to us or like our company come by anyway, so it’s perfect.
We’re not quite so happy with our current spot. It’s a bit cramped for us. The awning can’t be put up properly and it’s more uncomfortable than great for sitting outside.
But soon we’ll be able to make ourselves comfortable.
This week we went with friends to the neighboring village of Salema for a Brazilian night at the Eco Camp.
All of the proceeds from the event support the Medronheira community project, which focuses on regenerating the forest and rebuilding the houses affected by the recent forest fires.
It was a really nice evening and we also met friends who live outside the camper park.
It’s nice to be welcomed like that.
Here are a few more impressions from our walks and visits to the beach last week. It’s very warm during the day, the wind sometimes makes it seem colder and sometimes it’s really pleasant. It’s really lovely for swimming in the sea and sunbathing. And that’s in October!
But as soon as the sun goes down, it quickly gets cool. Ideal for sleeping at night.
There may not be much going on for you on our beautiful stretch of beach. But for us, it is very busy. Up until now, we’ve known the different sections of beach here differently. There were only ever a few people there and very often you had the beach all to yourself. Let’s see how this will change in the coming weeks and months.
Our third walk of the week in the area. You can choose from countless different paths or trails which one you prefer to take to the beach and which part of the beach you want to visit. Just great!
Enjoy the view again on the way back.
We are now looking forward to what the next week has in store for us.
