09.03.-15.03.2025 At home in Germany, working on WENNE

This week started for us with a visit to the Iveco workshop. Although our WENNE passed its MOT without any problems, we found the brakes a bit strange and wanted to have them checked. They were badly corroded. So the brakes were released and adjusted again. Now they work perfectly again for another 20000 km or so.

We asked the saddlery Oschwald in Elchingen near Ulm for a quote for new seat upholstery. We have already discussed everything and when we are back in the area in the fall, the job will be started. We’re really looking forward to it 😊

In the tuning workshop of OG Kustom we are allowed to park our WENNE safely and carry out some repairs. Not only are we allowed to stand in their yard, but the guys from OG Kustom are also on hand to help and advise us. We were given such a warm welcome and it’s really fun to work there.

The frame of our rear platform urgently needs to be replaced. With the rust, it may not be able to withstand the load of our little KTM for much longer.

The house cat from OG-Kustom always looked after us 😉

Unfortunately, the weather has been cold and wet this week. If there is some sun again next week, work will certainly be more fun.
As the TÜV had not commented on our tires, we decided not to replace them for our Scandinavian tour. We just want to get a usable spare tire at last. Alex has already dismantled the old spare tire with our junior. The way this wheel looked, porous and with lots of small cracks, it seems to have been one of the first in almost 40 years.

We have a huge problem with working outside for hours in the cold at temperatures between 5 and 10 degrees. If it rains on top of that, we have no motivation at all. That’s why we used Saturday to get an overview of the materials we still need. Not only the frame of the platform is to be renewed, there are also a few little things we want to change. For example, a new mattress, a thermal curtain, new rear lights, etc. You will find out more about this when we start with the installation.
