When we wanted to go to the beach nine days ago, it was impossible to get through. We now know that it rained more in October than it has for many years and the sea came in so far at high tide that the water blocked all the paths to the beach. Today we made another attempt.
It was possible to get through on all the paths.

A few nice impressions for you.
In the afternoon, we took a short trip to Lagos. This is the nearest major city.
Here in Portugal, we weren’t able to top up our prepaid card online. So we had to do it on site and there is a Vodafone dealer here in Lagos.

We took a closer look at this ruin.
The SÄo LuĂs de AlmadĂ©na fortress is a military monument in the municipality of Vila do Bispo in the Algarve region of Portugal.
The fortress was built in 1632 on the ruins of another fortress. Its original function was to protect an important tuna fishing vessel, Almadrava da AlmĂĄdena, from attacks by privateers and pirates from North Africa. It was abandoned in 1861.
In 1946, the municipal council of Vila do Bispo was notified of the transfer of the precarious ownership. The fortress was classified as property of public interest in 1974. At the beginning of the 21st century, the monument lay in great ruins. It was the subject of archaeological work in 2012.
