06.04.-12.04.2025 Working on WENNE, “At home in Germany”

This week we completed the major work on WENNE.

With the laying of the new floor covering, the “beautification” and renovation work inside the cabin is finally complete. With the exception of the upholstery of the seating furniture. This has already been ordered for the fall.

So the old flooring was removed and click vinyl was laid. We really like the new flooring. The room is now much friendlier and brighter.

We took a day off on Wednesday to celebrate Alex’s birthday in a small group. I think it’s great to finally bake for family and friends again.

After much deliberation, we decided to fit 2 new front tires after all. Thanks to our junior, who helped us with this.

First dismantle…

… and mount them back on the rims.

The last major action would actually have been to move the living area back so far that the cab can be tilted. The previous owner explained to us how he had pulled the living area backwards! We removed the cable connections, waste water and diesel lines so that everything between the cabin and the vehicle was separated. Then we tried it the way it was told to us. After a few attempts and hours later, we decided to postpone this attempt indefinitely. We didn’t manage it this way and will have to deal with this issue more intensively another time.

After the unsuccessful attempt to pull the cab back, Alex was able to replace the 4 V-belts without tilting the cab.

The motorcycle rocker for safe transportation of the motorcycle has been reinstalled.

The living area hangs down slightly on the front right-hand side. It was also always pressing on the silver box, so we constantly had problems opening it. Alex realigned the cabin as far as he could and reinforced it with an additional strut.

Now all the major work is done and the big tidying and cleaning has begun.

However, we didn’t get very far with the tidying up. The driver’s cabin is done but the living area is still a mess because it was time for the next party of the week 😉

The junior boss of OG Kustoms invited us to his birthday party. Thank you very much for that and for a really nice evening.

Tomorrow we will take our WENNE back to Iris’ parents, where we are currently staying. There he will get a thorough spring clean, a new mattress and a new insect screen on the door.

Our adventure is expected to continue in the week after Easter. It will be a slow and leisurely journey to Scandinavia.
