First working creatively, then eating pizza as a reward.
Great new acquaintances and a new friendThis week was partly windy and rainy. Wrapped up warm, it’s still nice to go for a walk.
Today’s walk takes us over muddy paths, paved stone paths, no paths at all ;-o to the asphalt road. Past sheep and a not-so-legal car graveyard.
When we saw this sign on the road, we were curious to see what was coming. We didn’t get very far. A few dead ends, closed off paths, private roads. We respected this and turned back.
After Alex had been staring at our outside staircase all morning, he suddenly started to take apart our replacement staircase, which is rather bad than good anyway, in order to somehow reassemble it into something.
He had a great idea! The old staircase became an assembly stand for our KTM.
In the meantime, I have turned my attention elsewhere. And another small step has been taken.
I also made a few stars as Christmas tree decorations.
So the Christmas decorations are complete for this year.
With so much creativity today, we treated ourselves to this delicious pizza in the village pizzeria. Just as we had ordered the food, our dear camper neighbor Janosch came by and joined us. He had gone for a walk and didn’t feel like cooking.
We spent a lovely evening together.
We are always making progress.
With little effort, we have achieved a big change from our old curtains.
We have made new friends here on the pitch. Very nice people from East Frisia. Like us, they have been living in their camper with their two dogs since the beginning of this year and exploring the world.
Here, somewhere in the middle of nowhere, there is Walter the butcher. A German butcher, now well past retirement age, who has set up a thriving “butcher’s shop” here in Portugal. Among other things, you can also have your German gas bottles filled there (albeit not quite so legally). It’s more like a barn where he makes and sells his own things than a butcher’s shop as we know it. On Sundays there is always a limited amount of delicious food. Goulash, schnitzel, Leberkäs… Unfortunately, Walter is now finally closing down at the end of the year. Although there is a young butcher, also from Germany, who would like to continue the butcher’s shop, we are curious to see whether the pepper bites, white sausages, Leberkäse, goulash and other delicacies will still be as delicious.
In any case, our friends gave us a baked liver cheese as a present.
We ate it the very next day.
Very tasty! Thank you both for that 🙂
There was a real crowd at reception on Saturday morning. There were heated discussions in a mishmash of German, English and Portuguese.
I sat down on our outside steps and just listened 😉 while Alex went off on his motorcycle to run some errands.
Shortly after everyone had calmed down and gone their separate ways again, our groundsman ran from camper to camper and announced that the park was open until 9pm until the end of December.
From 7 p.m. to 9 a.m., the gates are locked here in the low season and you can no longer drive in and out by car or camper. Admittedly, we also find this time in the evening very early. Especially at Christmas time. You want to experience the Christmas atmosphere in the evening in the various villages and towns. Or even go out for a meal. (You can only walk through our village from here and there’s nothing special to experience there. Otherwise you would always need a vehicle). It quickly gets after 7 pm. There is an extra gate for pedestrians with a combination lock. Smaller motorcycles, scooters or bicycles can easily pass through. That’s why the early closing time wasn’t so bad in our case.
This week, too, we were delighted to open a parcel from our Advent calendar every day. It’s great how well our children know us. So far, we’ve really only received things that we love or that suit us well.
We love to have a hot chocolate in the evening. Now we can enjoy our favorite cocoa again for a while.
Mulled wine and mug pudding always works 🙂 How we are already looking forward to it 😉
A collection of games! Our kids know that we like to pass the time with them. We only took various card games with us. The perfect gift!
A fishing book for Alex, great idea. The individual fish are described in such detail. We couldn’t even find such detailed information on the internet.
There isn’t a huge selection of teas here in Portugal. We drink tea for breakfast every morning. One of our favorite varieties came out of the calendar on day 9. Perfect!
And when the weather gets a bit grubby again, we’re already looking forward to a bit of wellness. Many thanks to our loved ones for all the great things.
We gave ourselves a Christmas present and bought two large chairs.
