Yesterday evening we had a nice encounter with a very nice French gentleman, slightly older than us. He and his wife arrived at the pitch shortly after us. They had a Renault Kangoo and were only there for one night. He told us in a mix of French and Italian which areas in France were really great. Which ones are not so nice. What tastes really delicious and where to find the best wine.
As he talked so enthusiastically, we felt a bit like we were in a French comedy. So that’s how the nice and friendly French are. Completely relaxed and very happy.
In 1094, the church was donated by Lord Guillaume de la Richardry to the Benedictine Abbey of Saint-Martial in Lemoges, which founded a regular priory there. It’s incredible how old some buildings are and what they can tell you.
After we had a leisurely breakfast today and went about our daily chores of emptying the waste water tank, filling the water tank and emptying the toilet cassette, we set off again.
Without further ado, we only drove around 200 km today. The scenery here is really great. We just wanted to enjoy it again. I think we’ve slowly arrived. In the adventure with “WENNE”.
We have become more relaxed and enjoy the rides. Even if it gets adventurously narrow from time to time. We actually want to drive routes that are closed to vehicles over 3.5 tons, but then we just turn into the next road even though it doesn’t look any better but has no prohibition sign or we chug uphill at 50 km/h because we’re in the wrong gear. The petrol stations are a bit narrow and people watch with their hands in front of their faces to see if we don’t hit a parked car or are too wide to pass. At the moment we’re having fun and that’s what counts.
We enjoy standing on the pitches. So far, we haven’t had to pay for the pitch or for electricity or water. That’s really great. In some places, electricity and water cost a few euros. We’ve always had free water so far. Even if we can manage well without electricity with our solar system, we still use the electricity when it’s free.
We sleep very well in the camper and the fact that we have a shower and toilet is a luxury for us. Nevertheless, we use toilet facilities outside the camper during the trip and although our hot water boiler is now working, we take cold showers. This is because the water in the water tank is not so icy cold due to the heat and we find it really refreshing.
Today we drove through many avenues.
Even through the many vineyards. There must be a lot of red wine here, we didn’t see a single white grape. This area is breathtakingly beautiful. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come across in the pictures.
After such narrow roads in the vineyards and small villages…
… it’s really relaxing to ride straight ahead for miles through the woods.
We arrive at our pitch for the night around half past three. This time it’s not as nice as the last few times. There’s not much on offer here either. You get the feeling of being in an industrial area. But it’s not really like that. The sports field is right behind us. There wasn’t much going on here when we arrived. Almost all 10 pitches are now occupied.
The way to the supermarket is rather uninteresting. The town or village is not as beautiful as many others here. The construction of the houses is rather modern.
In the end, we got what we needed and that’s a good thing. Now we’re going back and we’re going to cook ourselves something. Then we’ll round off the evening and when it’s cooled down a bit we’ll take a shower.
