03.07.2023 Moulay Abdeslam/Morocco

Last night at around 9pm, Alex went to talk to Moustapha, who was watering the plants.
We were actually exhausted and tired and wanted to go to bed when it was time. When Moustapha spontaneously decided that the three of us should drive to the village in his Defender.
Unfortunately, the pictures and the video didn’t turn out very well. Due to the darkness, the dirty windows and the bumpy ride.
There was a market in the village.
It felt like chaos. But the locals are very relaxed and easy-going.

Finally, he invited us for a coffee in the best coffee bar in the village. Which isn’t really difficult when there are virtually no other coffee bars.

Moustapha and his family provide us with such good food that it was really difficult for us to enjoy dinner at 10 pm as we were totally full.
Unaccustomed to eating so much and so late, we went to bed with heavy stomachs.

This was our room for the first night.
We found it ok. Even if the night for two in the narrow bed (just under the window) takes some getting used to.

We were allowed to move today. The guests who actually wanted to leave today had asked for an extension. So this room was not available for us.
Actually, we wouldn’t have had a problem with continuing to spend the second night in the small room. But Moustapha insisted that we should move into his room. He promised a larger room and we got a larger room. So it didn’t help to talk to him again, we are now staying in his and his wife’s room for the last day.

After breakfast today, we went on a safari to the mountain “Abou Hachem”, which incidentally has the same name as our accommodation.
Shortly before the summit, we had to walk a few more steps.

At one of the many water sources in the area, the men fill their water bottles with the delicious mountain water.

Moustapha told us that when the full moon shines and it illuminates this beautiful spot, it is a popular place to do yoga.

The bark has already been harvested from many of the cork oaks and these monkeys feel very much at home in this mountain. There are a lot of them here. Unfortunately, we were always too late with our photos, as we always had to hold on tightly as we drove through the forest. Or the monkeys ran off too quickly.

Only the horses allowed themselves to be photographed.

We’ll take you along on this crazy ride.

So we have to continue on foot from here. Moustapha provided us all with walking sticks and off we went. Moustapha, who is 65 years old, had perhaps a tooth on him, I struggled to keep up and couldn’t even take in the beautiful landscape.

The view is breathtakingly beautiful. Moustapha told us that on a good day you can see as far as the Spanish coast. Unfortunately, today was not a good day.

It was a very nice excursion. We are so grateful to Moustapha for showing us this beautiful place.

In the evening we were served another delicious meal.
