Although we actually wanted to stay two nights, we decided to continue our journey today. The town is very beautiful and you could certainly spend a few more days and nights here (although the train, whose track runs right next to the pitch, makes quite a racket between 5am and 11pm and rushes past at fairly short intervals).
But we had received a recommendation for a campsite and we really wanted to go there.
Even after the first few kilometers in Portugal, the vegetation is different and the architecture is also very different to Galicia.
The last few meters to our pitch today.
Typical for Portugal is that there are a lot of parking spaces close to the beach that campers are allowed to use. However, there are neither fresh water nor disposal stations. The public toilets are usually closed in the low season. If you’re lucky, you might be able to use one of the beach showers.
This campsite was recommended to us by the Austrian couple we met on our last day in Spain.
Before we set off today, we filled our fresh water tank completely for the first time so that we would have enough for a few days.
When we arrived at our destination, we immediately had to greet the sea.
A few pictures for you to enjoy.
The sun sets around 7:15 p.m. and then it quickly gets dark. Apart from the sound of the sea, the wind and a few crickets, it is absolutely silent here. And totally dark. Fantastically beautiful.
We also went for a walk on the beach the next day.
So nice to have the beach to ourselves.
Here are some impressions for you.
Our aim was to take a look at these ruins. It wasn’t really worth it. So we head a little further into the village. A short section along a beaten track and a little refreshment before we set off on the 5 km return journey.
Today, Thursday 05.10., is a national holiday in Portugal.
In contrast to the last few days, there is a lot going on at the beach today, probably because of the holiday.
Of course we also went for a walk on the beach today.
It was a wild day today.
It wasn’t just on the beach that we saw some animals. Back at the camper, we had a new friend. He wanted us to throw his stick. After we didn’t always react straight away, the sweetie got closer and closer to us and put his stick on the ground nearer and nearer to us.
Later, when we were inside the camper, he even got cheeky enough to put his stick on our table 🙂
In the end he even let us stroke him.
“Enjoy every moment, because you don’t know how many you have left”
