It was pleasantly quiet at night at this spot right on the beach. A few cars drove along the road. We fell asleep to the sound of the sea and were woken up by the sound of the sea. After breakfast, we went for a long walk along the beach. The wind was very fresh but it was lovely.
Have you spotted our WENNE behind the dune???
Back at the camper, we packed everything up and made our way to the next pitch.
We love the Mercadona supermarket in Spain. That’s why we decided to drive to a campsite that we had actually been to twice before. It was almost on the way to our destination near Cadiz and there is this Mercadona there. Most of them don’t allow us to park directly on site with WENNE as they have height barriers at the entrance and exit. At this one here in Palma del Condado, we can park right there in the parking lot and thus easily drive to WENNE with the shopping cart and pack our drinks and other things.
We were also surprised at how many motorhomes were already there. The last two times we were almost alone. The municipality has also made the supply and disposal area available again and other pitches.
We continued on Monday to a campsite near Cadiz. We don’t really like campsites, but we wanted to visit friends there who have been vacationing there for a few months. We could also take a relaxed tour of Cadiz by motorcycle from there.
The drive to Camping Roche was relaxed, although it rained a little from time to time. When we arrived at our destination for the day, we immediately asked at reception if we could have a pitch with our 7.5 tons. We were welcome to choose somewhere – there were no specific spaces for large vehicles. We first said hello to our friends and then immediately decided on the space next to them. A fatal mistake, as it turned out later.
We cleared everything up at reception and drove in with WENNE. WENNE slipped onto its side on the very first attempt to enter the pitch. Nevertheless, Alex wanted to try again. The ground was so soft that we got stuck. We tried in vain to free ourselves from the mud. We had no chance with shoveling, putting wood underneath and other attempts. Even when the campsite crew came to us after their siesta to help us out, it still took some time. After just under 3 hours, it was done and we were on our way back.
A big thank you goes to all the helpers who helped us with useful materials and advice.
Thanks to this campaign, half the campsite knows us. It’s amazing how many different characters there are. A few people were really concerned and helped out actively. Some looked very closely, stood in the way and mocked us. Others told us about their mishaps during the camper season, encouraged us or were almost more worried than we were and others just stood around. But I seriously ask myself: why is there always that one person who you want to grab by the collar because they only make stupid comments and unrealistic suggestions? Why?
In any case, we were allowed to stay between the pitches on a paved path for the four nights we had booked. It’s a good thing that there isn’t much going on at the moment, because we occupied 4 pitches.
We spent the evening with our friends. It was a very nice reunion.
The next morning, when we had cleaned the parts that had been soiled with earth and dirt, we realized that we were not the only ones who had bogged down with the vehicle. In the winter months, it is probably common for the employees to have to pull the vehicle out of the parking lot.
Later, we went on a short motorcycle tour to get to know the surrounding area.
We spent a day looking around Cádiz.
Cádiz, an old Spanish port city in the Andalusia region, is located on a headland in the southwest of the country and is surrounded on almost all sides by the sea.
The cathedral was built between 1722 and 1838.
A total of 116 years have passed, which is why the cathedral has different styles. The baroque style, the neoclassical style and the rococo style.
Der Genovės Park
This giant rubber tree ‘Ficus Macrophylla’, more than a hundred years old, is incredibly vigorous.
The James Bond movie “Die Another Day” was filmed on the beach, la calenta.
On day 3, we walked towards the beach. Playa Fuente la Gallo is more inviting for surfing than swimming.
After our almost 3-hour walk, we got everything ready for our onward journey the next morning. And in the evening we had a visit from our friends to say goodbye.
Will they go to the procession?
I really wanted to see Cadiz and Alex Gibraltar. So the next destination was clear.
As soon as we arrived at a pitch with about 100 spaces at the harbor, which is right in front of the border crossing, we walked 6.5 km from the north of Gibraltar to the south and back again. It was really worth it. A nice experience but a bit unusual to see the prices in pounds sterling and British life here.
The mountain of Gibraltar

The border crossing from Spain to Gibraltar, United Kingdom.
After crossing the border, we cross the tarmac of Gibraltar Airport into the city.
After 6.5 km from our pitch we were at our actual destination, the Point of Gibraltar, where you have a view of the strait and Africa/Morocco.
There is a kind of bunker here, and if you go inside you will find illuminated panels on the walls telling the story of Gibraltar.
On the way back we had fish & chips and chorizo.
The next morning was laundry day. As we were about to pick up the laundry, Mr. M approached us. We talked to him and his wife for quite a long time and arranged to meet at our place in the evening.
Afterwards, we went shopping on foot and strolled through a market.
Back at the camper, it wasn’t long before there was a knock on the door. It was a man who had actually looked at our WENNE when it was still for sale. How small the world is.
We spent a very pleasant evening with Mr. M and Mrs. S. All four of us thought it was a shame that we had to travel on tomorrow and could only get to know each other briefly. So we decided to stay one more night.
Tomorrow we will explore La Linea de la Conception together. It’s not often that you meet people you like from the very first moment. We would love to get to know them better. That’s also a nice luxury that we can afford in our current life. Stay where it’s nice, go when it’s time. We are well aware of this and enjoy it all the more.
