The view of the sunrise from our bed 🙂
During the night we heard the night birds screaming. In the morning we were woken by the mooing of the cows.
The pitch is really nice. It’s right next to a shipping canal, the Canal latéral à la Loire.
There was already a lot going on on the canal in the morning. It’s very interesting to watch these locks pass through.
As we wanted to drive further into the west of France, we first went shopping for a few groceries. There was a petrol station right next to the supermarket, which are in really short supply in these regions. We actually wanted to fill up again so that we would have enough fuel for Spain and wouldn’t have to make any more detours to a petrol station.
Unfortunately, it had probably been closed for some time and so we drove off to fill up our fresh water tank a few kilometers further on at another campsite.
There was no fresh water at this site either. Another camper had the same problem as us. Shortly afterwards, we saw a car from the local authority driving up. While we waited to see what they would do (perhaps provide fresh water?!?!), Alex did his daily walk around the camper to check that everything was OK.
Unfortunately, Alex found something unpleasant.
At least the air pressure is ok.
While he was taking the precaution of checking the air in his tires, I saw the one camper who also wanted to fill up his water at the small park next to the campsite.
I could see that he had found a water point there, was able to connect his water hose and fill up his tank.
The pitch here isn’t too bad. So we decided to stay here for a few days until we knew exactly where we were going to stay with our tire. We don’t really want to drive that many more kilometers with this crack.
In the afternoon, we took our little KTM to Euromaster, 24 km from our pitch, to see if they had a new tire for us.
Using Google Translate, we were able to make ourselves understood to some extent, as we speak absolutely no French. After a while, the nice lady said that this tire was no longer available to order. It’s either bigger or smaller. That’s not possible. Alex found some suitable tires on the Internet. Maybe there is the same problem here as with the spare parts. We can come back on Monday and they will fit the spare tire for us. As soon as we find an opportunity in Spain, we will probably order a tire ourselves and a garage will certainly fit it for us.
Provided the spare tire is in order!
On the way we found this nice place and had to make a stop.
Back at the camper, we wanted to test out our shower. We don’t know exactly how to get the boiler off. It doesn’t light. We tried to contact the previous owner, maybe he could tell us what to do, as there are no instructions. I wonder if he knows exactly why he prefers not to contact us or is simply not available at the moment. We’ll look into the matter again tomorrow. We took a cold shower today. It wasn’t actually very cold, just fresh in this beautiful weather.
The shower is also part of the luxury that the camper offers us and is totally sufficient in size.
So we’ll stay here on this pitch until Monday and then we’ll see if the tire really works and whether we can continue on towards Bordeaux.
We’ve had enough action for today and are in the middle of a new adventure with “WENNE”.
