Today is also a public holiday in Portugal. The sun is shining, we have a moderate wind, 22° . Time for an exploratory tour with our “little one”
Stop at Cap San Vicente, the most south-westerly point in Portugal. It’s actually impossible to put into words how beautiful it is here.
As a lighthouse fan, it was very disappointing for Iris that the entrance was currently closed. No idea for how long. Temporarily closed, what a shame!
We will definitely be visiting this place more often.
Our journey continued along the various sand and gravel paths.
Next stop at Praia Ponta Ruiva.
Coffee break at Praia do Casilejo.
What a beautiful day 🙂 Alex definitely had fun 🙂
Since we bought the motorhome, we haven’t taken care of a few things. Today it was time to tackle a few things.
The first thing we looked at was the awning. We’re glad that it can actually still be used. It has doors on the sides and a window at the front. Visually, it’s no longer the prettiest thing, it just needs to be cleaned because it’s terribly dirty. Otherwise, the canopy would serve its purpose.
Unfortunately, we can’t use it at all on this pitch because this electricity box, which isn’t on every pitch, is in the way. The part of the window is so close to the corner of the box that it probably wouldn’t be very smart to put it up here in the wind. We are afraid that it might break. If we stay longer in this motorhome park, it’s not out of the question that we’ll change pitches and use it then.
The camper also has an outdoor kitchen. Alex still wants to replace the gas hoses. Apart from that, everything still looks very good and it’s a great way to cook outside when the weather is nice.
There was also a new mosquito net for the door.
WENNE has a few storage compartments on the outside where the previous owner stowed a few things and gave them to us. For example, this box of spare parts. A few things are actually still usable, a few are already broken and can no longer be used.
At the beginning of November, our great groundsman Antonio still has to take care of the lawn. Everything is just starting to turn green, the trees and plants are sprouting thanks to the rain and the not-too-cold temperatures. Iris is actually struggling with her hay fever for the first time this winter 😉
It’s between 18 and 22 degrees here. Since we’ve been here, it has rained a little every day. Nature likes that very much, of course. We are looking forward to the next two weeks and hope that the weather forecast is right with little rain, warm temperatures and lots of sunshine.
We definitely know how to make good use of the rainy seasons,
Then we always have time to think about how we can make good use of the space in the WENNE. There are so many ideas that take a lot of work and time. There are two great DIY stores nearby that are pretty well equipped and reasonably priced. If we actually implement these ideas, it is possible that we will spend some more time here in this place. We would definitely like to do that. Apart from that, there is still so much we want to see in the region. The people who are here with us at the camper park are all really great. Some have been here for a long time, others just a few days, others just one night. We feel very comfortable and are warmly welcomed by the permanent campers. And if Antonio, the groundsman, can’t help out with the right tools, it can happen that someone knocks on our door 😉 😉 The only thing that is really a bit annoying is that the gate is locked between 7pm and 9am and you are no longer allowed to drive. As you don’t have many opportunities to eat out or anything similar here in the village, you are inevitably reliant on your car. If, like us, you are traveling with a scooter or a smaller motorcycle, you can enter and leave the park outside of these times through the pedestrian gate, which has a combination lock, and even if you are traveling with a caravan and have a car, you don’t necessarily want to leave it outside the park. That really is a disadvantage. Personally, we still feel comfortable and simply get up earlier (it gets light around 6 am) and are definitely in the camper in the evening (it gets dark at 6 pm). If it does get later… we fit through the people gate 😉
Now we are curious to see what exactly awaits us in the next few weeks, maybe months.
Today the tasks were clearly divided. Alex took care of our leaky bathroom skylight.
While I took care of the fresh laundry.
There are washing machines here, but we only really use them when we want to wash the bed linen. Otherwise, washing the laundry by hand is part of everyday life on our trip.
As you don’t just drive to the place where the final and supply water is located to dispose of the waste water and fill up with fresh water on a pitch like this, we usually split this work up. You have to walk the same route 3-6 times until everything is done. This has also become routine for us.
It’s also almost a daily routine: if someone knocks on the door, we help them 🙂
This well-organized camping equipment store is located in the middle of a campsite about 50 km from our pitch. We had been looking for some time for a gas pipe with a fitting that would fit the outside gas connection. So we had a look around this store today. The owners and the salesman are very nice and helpful. It was an advantage for us that they speak German. This made it easy to clarify what options were available. The saleswoman explained to us that the fittings we needed were not available here. In the end, we opted for a quick coupling with a suitable hose. Alex had already considered this option, but wasn’t sure whether he should use it or not. This decision has now been taken away from him. Unfortunately, the prices in this store are often very expensive.
Once we arrived in the motorhome, Alex immediately got to work.
Now nothing stands in the way of cooking on the outdoor hob and our outdoor oven.
